John Holland awarded $110 million Defence building project

Darwin, 30 April, 2013: John Holland has been awarded the contract to deliver the $110m Robertson Barracks Defence Logistics Transformation Program (DLTP), Works Package 4 for the Department of Defence in the Northern Territory. As part of the project, John Holland will develop 340,000 m² of Robertson Barracks to provide 11 new buildings totaling nearly 50,000 m², 67,000 m² of pavements and a 2.2 km access road. Group Managing Director, Glenn Palin, said the awarding of this contract confirms John Holland as a contractor of choice for Defence.

Booming Murphy Pipe & Civil creates 250 new jobs

Murphy Pipe and Civil, the Australian associated company of J. Murphy & Sons Limited, is to create up to 250 new jobs through its recent contract award, an AUS $100m pipeline construction contract with Queensland Gas Company (QGC).

“As a part of our ongoing commitment to “local first” policy, we will continue to look for local people to fill the variety of roles that will be required for the project. When we began working in the Western Downs we made a solid commitment to use local labour and trade suppliers and have in the last 12 months injected more than AUS $8 million into the local economy”, commented Jim Campbell, Murphy Pipe & Civil Managing Director.

This further increases its presence within the country’s coal seam gas sector via its HDPE gas gathering installation work.
